October Community Spotlight: Emma Dalmayne

An Interview with the CEO of Autistic Inclusive Meets (AIM) U.K.

Emma Dalmayne is the embodiment of a mama bear. She is a fierce advocate of autistic rights, especially for children. An advocate for her own children; she has 6 neurodivergent children that she has raised to be their own advocates! An advocate to her own inner child, whose journey of oppression and inner-strength is documented in her new book, Trigger Warning. She is the defender of those whose voice are unheard and silenced. She creates events like playgroups and Football Saturdays where autistic kids can just be kids. Let’s hear more from the CEO of Autistic Inclusive Meets (AIM) U.K.

I created AIM as there was and is nothing else like us out there. We provide boxing and football sessions and social/ sensory groups. We also do campaigns and protests, fighting for autistic rights and against the abuse of autistic people.

We also hold autistic prides and craft fairs, with speakers, poets and singers with a hall filled with authors, sensory goods makers, jewelry makers, clothing makes and more!

Tell us about one of the most memorable events you have hosted at AIM? What makes this memory special to you?

Our first pride, it was wonderful to see so many neurodivergent people in one place feeling proud just to be themselves.

As an autistic mother and mother to autistic kids, why do you think it's important for autistic people to have our own events, communities, and spaces?

We need somewhere thats Inclusive, where we will not to be judged. Where we will be accomodated and celebrated. It’s of paramount importance.
